Skull Creek Meadows

Lightning the afternoon of August 24th started the Skull Creek Meadows Fire, located northeast of Mount Leidy. The fire was located and sized up early evening by the Teton Interagency helicopter. Five Firefighters from the Teton Interagency Fire Module will staff the fire early Tuesday morning. 

 

Pass

The Pass fire was the result of an August 24th late afternoon lightning fire.  Four Teton Interagency Firefighters responded to the tenth acre fire. 

 

 

Smokehouse

The Smokehouse Mountain Fire, located 7 miles north of Togwotee Pass, in the Teton Wilderness, was reported to Teton Dispatch on Monday at 12:30.  The Teton Interagency Helicopter  estimated size at five acres, and is burning in a small stand of timber at approximately 10,000 foot elevation.  Terrain adjacent to the fire is steep and inaccessible; the fire posses no threat at this time and is expected to have minimal.   The suppression strategy will be confine and contain the fire.  A remote camera has been placed on Angle Mountain to monitor fire activity.

Irish Canyon

Carson Stinson, Irish Canyon Fire Incident Commander trainee, reported that the fire was approximately a quarter acre in size and appeared to be caused by recent lightning. The fire was reported by a driver on the highway passing by Sand Draw south of Boulder.

Cow Creek

The Cow Creek fire was reported to Teton Interagency Dispatch on Thursday, August 6.  The fire is 8 acres and is believed to be a "holdover" from lightning several days earlier.  As of today, August 10, there are 16 smokejumpers and one helicopter assigned to the fire. 

Highline Fire

A lightning map has confirmed this new fire start from a storm passing over the area on 9/19. Currently burning in an isolated pocket of mixed conifer, willow and aspens the .50 acre fire did spot into an adjacent stand of vegetation. With the   weather moving into the area, firefighters will leave the remote area of the fire and patrol the area as needed. Smoke maybe visible at the higher elevations of the  of the Public and firefighter safety is always the first priority for managers. Due to low fire potential at this time, no trails will be closed.

Pine Knoll

The cause of the fire was due to lightning from a storm that went over Thursday and held over until Friday late afternoon. Hunters in the area of Pine Knoll saw a tree torching and called it in to local authorities. Fire personnel are taking full suppression action at this time.

Porcupine Fire

This is a new fire start from the lightning storm passing over the Teton area on 8/28, detected on Saturday by a homeowner living in the Munger Mountain area. This small fire .10 acre is smoldering in heavy timber and has moderate potential for growth. Due to the proximity of the fire and the wildland urban interface, this fire is being fully suppressed.
