The Beaver Creek Fire was ignited early on July 9th when a thunderstorm moved through the Buck Mt/Beaver Creek area of the park. Heavy rain showers followed the storm and responders were unable to locate the fire until it began to show smoke again late on July 15th. An interagency squad of four firefighters responded to suppress the fire.
35HX, Teton Interagency Helitack Crew responded to a smoke check 9 miles south of Alpine that was reported by the public Sunday early evening. E631 from the Greys River Ranger District responded to the 1/10 acre fire and called it contained and controlled the same evening.
Hikers discovered this small fire over the weekend and reported it to dispatch. The fire is located very close to the National Elk Refuge boundary and is likely the result of a warming fire as there has been no lightning detected in that area recently and trash was also found at the site. Firefighters from Engine 441 suppressed the fire. Map
