10/09/2025 -  Dollar Lake Fire Newly Revised Closure Order & Map

The closure has been scaled back to encompass the Green River Lakes Campground only.
 

New Fork

UPDATE: 8/8 9:79 - The New Fork Fire has been declared out and all resources have been released from the fire.

8/5 11:15 am - Fire managers gridded the burn using infrared thermal technology and detected no heat. The area did receive a trace of moisture overnight. Crews will continue to check the fire and mop up any hotspots.

8/4 4:42 - The fire is now controlled. Crews will continue to monitor for fire activity.

2:18 pm - The fire is 100% contained at this time. Remaining resources are mopping up the fire. 

Darwin Fire

Lightning passing over the Gros Ventre Wilderness area on 7/29 ignited this small 10th of an acre wildfire. The fire is under a full suppression action with the aid of four West Yellowstone Smokejumpers. During the fire's size up the jump plane reported low fire behavior, smoldering in a small stand of timber with minimal growth potential. The Darwin Ranch in located less than 3 miles ahead of the fire and was first reported to Teton Fire Dispatch by the ranch.

Box Creek

This lightning caused fire has not been showing any signs of smoke or fire activity since July and was called controlled on 8/21.

The main objective was to keep fire from moving south, by employing a suppression strategy on the south end of the fire to protect values in the Buffalo River Valley. This strategy will utilize tactics on the ground that provide balance between achieving desired Wilderness resource objectives and limiting exposure to firefighters.

UPDATE: 7/23  10:55 am - The fire has been declared out at this time.

8:50 am - The fire was contained yesterday evening and controlled this morning. The hotshots are hiking off the hill and the remaining resources are continuing mopup and also backhaul of equipment off the hill.The Type I helicopter is no longer attached to the incident but is pre-positioned at the Pinedale Airport in the event it is needed.

Middle Fork

The Middle Fork Fire was reported by the public late Thursday evening and was confirmed at 11pm. Due to fire fighter safety, E-411 and E-631 responded Friday morning and along with Helicopter 35HX, are suppressing the fire at this time.The fire is located in the Middle Fork area of Commissary Ridge, north of Kemmerer, WY. The Middle Fire was contained and controlled Saturday evening. Crews will continue to work hot spots until completely cold dead out. 

Goodwin Lake

This human caused fire was left after a party was held at the Goodwin Lake dispersed campsites the weekend of July 13th.  The fire was detected and called into Teton Interagency Fire on 7/14 by the individuals who found the smoldering fire.The hikers suppressed the fire with the aid of water from Goodwin Lake- 10 feet away from the fire's ring.  We at Teton Fire, ask and remind all visitors who have campfires to please remain vigilant and put all campfires out and cold to the touch.

Red Peak

It appears the Red Peak fire smoldered for several day before it was detected by hikers on July 10. The local interagency helicopter delivered two firefighters to the incident for the management action. The fire was suppressed with the support of a blivet or 55 gallon pillow of water used to carry water to dry locations to aid firefighters in mop up operations of a fire,

Red Peak

It appears the Red Peak fire smoldered for several days before detection. The fire was caused by lightning and was detected by two hikers in the area on July 10th. Two firefighters flew in on the interagency helicopter to complete suppress the smoldering fire and then hiked off the mountain for pick up. redtop fire.jpg 

Horse Fly

A small lightning fire was discovered on Sunday, July 7, burning in the Chall Creek area of the Big Piney Ranger Districts. Firefighters from Engine 421 responded to the fire and put it out.
