Teton Interagency Fire

11/2 Update: After weeks of patrol and monitor and no heat or activity found, the fire was declared out on Oct. 18.

This fire is located approximately 1 mile southwest of the head of Middle Piney Lake along the Middle Piney hiking trail. Resources from Teton Interagency Helitack and Engine 671 took suppression action, including bucket work from Helicopter 6HE. The fire was controlled and declared out on 9/16. Cause of the fire is an abandoned warming fire.

Teton Fire Interagency, 6HE helicopter, responded to a report of smoke in Strawberry Creek, east of Bedford. A single tree, spot fire was located and fire personnel are taking full suppression action at this time. 

Strawberry Creek Fire was contained, controlled and called out September 13th. 

Forest visitors recreating in the Gros Ventre Wilderness reported smoke visible in the Horse Creek after an early morning thunderstorm passed over the area on September 2nd. Two firefighters responded with the local helicopter and discovered two trees burning after being struck by lightning. Because the fire is located within the wilderness, firefighters will apply minimal suppression tactics to ensure the fire is cold and dead out before returning to their duty station to prepare for the next wildland fire.  The fire is located at above 8000 feet and has a low spread potential.

Small fire located in a dead and down snag on a very steep slope. The small, smoldering fire will be suppressed with the help of two local firefighters off the interagency helicopter. 

A single tree fire ignited by lightning passing over the southern area of the Jackson Ranger District on 9/2. The fire was suppressed within two hours of detection.

E411, E631 and helicopter 35HX responded to a smoke report in the Little Fall Creek vicinity of the LaBarge Creek drainage August 26. This 1/10 acre fire is under a full suppression strategy and burning in a mixture of dead and down fuels. The helicopter will support resources on the ground with water drops from a bucket. Fire spread potential is moderate.

The Little Fall Creek Fire was called controlled, contained and out on July 27th. 

Fire was in approved location but camper was pouring fuel on to the fire causing it to escape the ring.

A Twin Falls helicopter has delivered two firefighters adjacent to the fire area. This fire is under a full suppression strategy and burning in a mixture of heavy dead and down fuels. The helicopter will support resources on the ground with water drops from a bucket. Fire spread potential is moderate, and cause has not been determined.

8/18 - The fire received rain overnight and was called out.

A swift response from local fire staff helped to catch the Willow Creek fire and prevent it from growing. Firefighters have completed a control line around the fire’s perimeter and will now focus on holding that line and working to eliminate any fire threats within the perimeter of the fire. Resources include county and federal fire engines and the local interagency fire helicopter.
