Natural caused start from lightning strike.
West Hoback Fire
Afternoon thunderstorms on July 5th, are responsible for two new lightning caused fires in the Hoback area of the Jackson Ranger District. The first is located on a north facing slope, burning in mixed brush and timber, west of Volunteer Fire Station 3. Two helitack have been delivered to the top of the ridge above the fire and suppressing the .01 acre fire described as having low spread potential.
Rock Creek Fire
First documented lightning caused fire of the 2021 fire season. The small fire was located on Munger Mountain. The fire was called into Teton Interagency Fire Dispatch Center by a visitor mountain biking in the area. Fire Behavior Photo
Little Half Moon
This fire was a result of a storm that passed over the area on 9/22. Resources were sent the next day and unable to locate. Reporting party provided a lat/long and fire crew was able to hike in to the lightning strike tree and small fire. All heat was gone due to precipitation in the form of hail/rain the night of the storm.
Stewart Creek
Helicopter 86G conducted a recon flight between Stewart Creek and Middle Creek in a followup to a smoke report from last night. The Stewart Creek Fire is 1/10 acre, fire personnel will staff overnight. Full Suppression action. Called out as of 9/23
Beaver Fire
Lightning caused fire, burning south of Bryan Flats on Beaver Mountain on the Jackson Ranger District. The fire is still quite small, burning in a single tree, brush and grassy fuels. Two interagency helitackers are suppressing the fire and hope to return to the helibase after putting out the fire completely later today 9/11.
Enos
A packer riding out out the Teton Wilderness reported two smoldering logs in a small stand of green trees. The Teton Interagency Helicopter responded on Thursday and extinguished the fire.
Miller
This fire was discovered approximately 3 miles south of Bondurant, WY burning in mixed conifer above Miller drainage. Several firefighters from the Bridger-Teton NF and Sublette County Unified Fire, as well as a Type 3 helicopter from Teton Interagency Fire responded and began suppression efforts.
