As incident complexity has decreased and containment increased, the Type 2 incident management team—Great Basin Team 3—transferred command of the fire to a local Type 4 organization as of Sunday, September 30, at 6 a.m.

Five firefighters from the Pinedale and Big Piney Ranger Districts have hiked in fire and will be fully suppressing the fire using Minimum Impact Suppression Tactics (MIST)
This fire is located 4 miles south of Alpine and approximately 1 mile west in the Squaw Creek drainage and is human caused. The fire is approximately 30 acres in size due to more accurate GPS mapping of the burned area. The Squaw-Murphy route (Forest Road #10001-Forest Trail #3183) closure has been rescinded and is now open for recreation. The Fire Trail Fire was declared out late afternoon on August 30, 2018.
A burning stump near the Hobble Creek Campground was found and extinguished by Forest personnel. This fire was the cause of a careless human. The fire danger rating is "High", which means all fine dead fuels ignite readily and fires start easily.
Crews responded Tuesday afternoon to two reported fires along Hwy 89, south of the JH Airport Rd. Junction. Visitors reported seeing a trailer with mechanical issues driving south ignite two fires along the road shoulder. Initial actions taken by visitors with a fire extinguisher and water kept the fires from spreading until interagency fire resources could reach the scene.
The two fires, approx 100 yards apart, totaled less than a tenth of an acre.
35HX, Teton Interagency Helitack Crew responded to a smoke check 9 miles south of Alpine that was reported by the public Sunday early evening. E631 from the Greys River Ranger District responded to the 1/10 acre fire and called it contained and controlled the same evening.
Hikers discovered this small fire over the weekend and reported it to dispatch. The fire is located very close to the National Elk Refuge boundary and is likely the result of a warming fire as there has been no lightning detected in that area recently and trash was also found at the site.
