Gros Ventre Slide

Heavy lightning passing over the Flat Creek and Kelly areas are responsible for the Gros Ventre Slide fire located within the GV wilderness area. Crews accessed the fire after crossing the Gros Ventre River to determine the fire's jurisdiction to be on the BTNF, burning in heavy dead and down timber. Firefighters have been granted mechanical use to fully suppress the half acre fire.

Thank you to the neighbors living in Kelly for the intel and support in locating the fire. 

8/14 Firefighters continue to suppress and mop up the fire hauling water from the GV river. 

Cow Creek

Lightning from storms over the area started the small fire located in upper Cow Creek drainage, in the Gros Ventre Wilderness. Crews hiked into the fire and requested a 72-gallon "blivit" of water to help support full suppression action on the fire. 

Slide Lake

This fire, located in the Bridger Wilderness on the banks of Slide Lake,  was discovered by hikers who attempted to extinguish it. After it was reported to dispatch, firefighters responded to the 20' x 20' fire and continued to work on the fire until it was declared out at approximatley 3:30 pm on Aug. 5.

Indian Peak

A single tree fire on the ridgeline between the headwaters of Colburn Creek and south of Indian Peak. Fire is close to the Colburn fire and also located within the Palisades Wilderness Study area. Thank you to the locals within the Fall Creek area who helped to report the fire. Two engine operators along with two helitack from Teton Interagency fire will remain on scene and suppress the fire completely. 

 

Game Creek

Morning thunderstorms over the Jackson area started the small fire located on a steep southwest facing slope in the Game Creek area. Two mountain bikers in the area reported the fire to dispatch.
