October, 19th-All seems quite within the fire perimeter. Recent weather has inhibited any new growth with any fire activity limited to smoldering duff, stumps or logs. Before managers can make the decision to call they fire out much needs moisture is still needed and the fire is not likely to be called out until the area receives at least 2 inches of snow.
Fire personnel are being flown to the Sherman Peak Fire to take suppression action. This fire makes 4 fires detected today, under investigation.
The Spring Creek Fire is the third fire detected today as a flight recon was being done.
The Salt River Fire was detected by air patrol, after locating the Poker Hollow Fire that was reported by a hunter in the area. This fire is approximately 3/10 of an acre and is also under investigation, along with 4 fires yesterday, 9/29 and 7 fires today, 9/30.
The Poker Hollow Fire is located approximately 2 miles southeast of Mount Wagner and is 2/10 of an acre, creeping and smoldering. Fire personnel are taking suppression action at this time and is under investigation.
This fire is located west of the Cliff Creek drainage north of Kerr Creek. Firefighters from Teton Interagency Helitack and East Zone engines were flown in to the fire Tuesday evening to begin suppression efforts.
This new small .10 of an acre fire is located within the Willow Creek Drainage. Another area that does not indicate lightning in the area for sometime. Due to the numerous new fires on the forest, two firefighters and a helicopter from the Caribou Targhee have flown over to assist with the suppression of this suspicious fire. The Bridger Teton National Forest is in Fire Restrictions!
The third fire in a 24 hour period believed to be human caused as no lightning has been recorded in the area for several weeks. The Dog Fire is located on a west facing aspect just below the ridgeline in the Dog Creek drainage. A fire ring has been located within the fires perimeter. The fire is spotting in grass, brush and timber fuel models the incident commander has requested 6 firefighters to help with the suppression strategy. The Bridger Teton National Forest is under Stage 1 fire restrictions.
Located on the Dry Wash Creek, east of the Elbow of the Snake River. The 1/10 acre fire is creeping and smoldering in timber and grass. Fire personnel are taking suppression action at this time.
