This means the fire was started by humans, either intentional or accidental; equipment, smoking, campfire, debris burning, railroad, arson, children, fireworks, vehicle.
The Greys River Trail Crew reported smoke in the Meadow Creek and Henderson Creek area on Sept 24th. E-631 Chase responded and got a visual on it early evening. No action was taken at that time due to firefighter safety, hiking to a fire in the dark on unknown terrain.
This fire was declared out on Sept. 30 after significant rain fell over the area.
This fire was called in to Teton Interagency Dispatch by outfitters in the area. Helicopter and crew from Teton Interagency responded to extinguish the fire. The fire is located approximately 3 miles west of Lookout Mountain. The fire is under investigation and is suspected to be human caused by an abandoned warming fire.
Campground hosts extinguished a fire at Colter Bay CG, site D-101 on Monday afternoon while the area was receiving strong winds on a very hot and dry day. The National Weather Service had issued a Red Flag Warning for the area asking residents and visitors to be cautious with fire as conditions were ripe for fire spread. This human caused fire was located in the campsite, but not in the established fire ring and is under investigation.
Several reports of smoke in the river bottom south of Deadman's Bar access came in on Sunday, with suppression actions taken by visitors also reported. One fire was found by fire resources and suppressed on the east side of the main river channel. Continued patrols Sunday and Monday discovered no additional fires.
This human caused fire was discovered by visitors at the Lupine Meadows trailhead on Sunday morning, and was quickly suppressed.
Another human caused fire left by individuals who did not completely extinguish their campfire. Some effort was made into trying to put the fire out however, plenty of heat was still left inside the burning material. This fire had the potential to negatively impact the Hatchet businesses and Blackrock District office and homes. The Coburn Fire was first reported to Teton Interagency Dispatch at 12:30 Thursday. The fire is located 1.5 miles east of Observation Peak in the Snake River Range. The Teton Interagency Helicopter responded with four firefighters. Cause of the 3/4 acre fire is undetermined and under investigation. Eight Smokejumpers from West Yellowstone were dropped on the fire to provide additional help. the fire does have fire line around the perimeter, put the steep terrain continues to allow for roll out of burning material.
09/17 The Boulder Lake Fire was declared out yesterday after firefighters checked the fire. They gridded the aspen stand on the slope on the north side of Boulder Lake and found no heat.
Teton Interagency Fire personnel have responded to a smoke report 2.5 miles due east of LaBarge Guard Station. Helicopter 35HX, Engine 671 and Chase 411 are taking full suppression action at this time. This fire, determined by a fire investigator, was the cause of a careless human not fully extinguishing their warming fire. news release
This human caused fire was left after a party was held at the Goodwin Lake dispersed campsites the weekend of July 13th. The fire was detected and called into Teton Interagency Fire on 7/14 by the individuals who found the smoldering fire.The hikers suppressed the fire with the aid of water from Goodwin Lake- 10 feet away from the fire's ring. We at Teton Fire, ask and remind all visitors who have campfires to please remain vigilant and put all campfires out and cold to the touch.
