Wohelo
This fire is located approximately 1 mile southwest of the head of Middle Piney Lake along the Middle Piney hiking trail. Resources from Teton Interagency Helitack and Engine 671 took suppression action, including bucket work from Helicopter 6HE. The fire was controlled and declared out on 9/16. Cause of the fire is an abandoned warming fire.
Fremont Lake Campground
Fire was in approved location but camper was pouring fuel on to the fire causing it to escape the ring.
Refuge 1
On Friday afternoon county and federal firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls about a brush fire near the south boundary of Grand Teton NP along Highway 89. Visitors initially doused the fires with water and ice until interagency wildland fire resources arrived on scene and extinguished the fires. They appear to have been caused by a vehicle travelling northbound, throwing sparks along the road shoulder.
Bearpaw
Late on the evening of June 23rd visitor reported an illegal campfire on the shore of Bearpaw Lake. Park volunteers doused the fire before dark and reported that it was still smoldering the litter and duff beneath the fire. Interagency firefighters responded the following morning and mopped up and completely extinguished the smoldering heat.
Gros Ventre
Fire discovered just southwest of the Gros Ventre CG group loop. Campers extinguished the blaze using adjacent river water after several tress had burned
Fremont
Fire discovered near Fremont Lake on the Pinedale Ranger District. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control and out the next day.
Sweeney Creek
This fire was discovered around 4:20 pm Sunday afternoon just north of Half Moon Lake along Sweeney Creek Trail. Sublette County Unified Fire, Sublette County Sheriffs office, Sublette County Emergency Management, along with engine crews from USFS, responded and assisted with the firefighting effort. Resources were able to contain the fire just after 7 pm. Crews will continue working towards full suppression.
Buck Creek Fire
Another suspicious fire with no lightning in the area. The fire is located in a shade of timber, close to a ridgeline above 8000 feet in elevation. Very similar to many of the other new fire starts over the past 4 days.
