Critical Stress Management
A number of serious accidents, critical incidents, and/or traumatic stress events occur in wildland fire operations throughout each wildland fire season.  As a result, personnel may experience critical incident and traumatic stress during the line of duty.  The effects of traumatic stress are best prevented and mitigated through the use of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).  Therefore, a Critical Incident Management Program has been established by Southwest Coordinating Group (SWCG) designed to support fire and aviation personnel with their own peers, who have received specialized Peer and Group Support training. This page is provided as a guideline in finding resources and information should events warrant the response of CISM personnel.
