The Southwest Coordination Center website is designed to serve as a source of fire intelligence and information primarily for the wildland fire community in the Arizona, New Mexico, western Texas, and the nation as deemed necessary.

The SWCC website IS NOT a "real-time" website, nor is it designed to be an "incident-specific" website for the wildland fire community or the general public. Sites established for "Incident Information" can be found in the "Incident Information" section of the left-side menubar.

Although we strive to update the products and services on our site as timely as possible, time constraints, staffing, and emerging activity will sometimes preclude this from happening.  The SWCC website does provide information on large fires that occur within the Southwest Area, it is not the "official" website for any individual fire.  If you would like immediate or additional information about a particular fire, please contact the unit in which the incident is occurring.

The SWCC provides no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, timeliness, or completeness of the information furnished.

Various components of the website are updated throughout the day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. depending on the Preparedness Level for the Southwest Area:

  • Preparedness Level 1; Monday - Friday
  • Preparedness Level 2; Monday - Friday
  • Preparedness Level 3; Monday - Sunday, as staffing and activity warrants
  • Preparedness Level 4 & 5; Monday - Sunday

Many of the links on the SWCC websiteare maintained by other organizations, including government, commercial, educational, and non-profit organizations. Please note that the SWCC does not control these websites and cannot guarantee the relevance, timeliness, or accuracy of the information provided.

PREDICTIVE SERVICES - Fire Weather / Fire Danger Outlooks

The Predictive Services Unit (PSU) at the SWCC utilizes the most recent data available to produce daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal Fire Weather / Fire Danger Outlooks.  The intent of the Outlooks are to provide fire managers with as much detailed information as possible to assist them in being prepared for the forthcoming period.  Although the PSU adheres to a policy of being as accurate as possible in their Outlooks, the variability in weather can change over a course of time causing the possibility of mis-calculations.  Therefore, use of these products is at your discretion.
