NORTHERN
ROCKIES AREA |
The Northern Rockies
Area is one of ten
Geographic Areas across the United
States and Alaska. The focal point
for overseeing interagency coordination
of these areas is directed by the
National
Interagency Fire Center (NIFC)
in Boise, Idaho. The geographical
boundary for the Northern Rockies
Area includes the States of Montana,
North Dakota, and northern Idaho,
Yellowstone National Park, and a small
portion of South Dakota. Primary Federal,
State and other cooperating agencies
include the U.S. Forest Service, Montana
Department of Natural Resources and
Conservation, Bureau of Land Management,
Idaho Department of Lands, Bureau
of Indian Affairs, North Dakota Forest
Service, Montana Disaster and Emergency
Services, National Park Service, Montana
Firewarden's Association, U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service, Montana State
Fire Chief's Association, and Montana
Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association.

The Northern
Rockies Coordinating Group (NRCG)
provides interagency fire management
direction and all risk support through
interagency cooperation, communications
and coordination for the Northern
Rockies Area. |

NORTHERN
ROCKIES COORDINATION CENTER |
The Northern Rockies
Coordination Center (NRCC) is the
focal point for mobilization of resources
between the fourteen zone dispatch
centers within the Northern Rockies
Area, as well as the National
Coordination Center (NICC) and
neighboring Geographic Areas. The
mission of NRCC is to provide safe,
cost effective mobilization of emergency
incident resources and to promote
efficient operations through interagency
cooperation and standardized procedures. |

NORTHERN
ROCKIES DISPATCH ZONES |
The Northern Rockies
is divided into 12
Dispatch Zones for the purpose
of local interagency fire management
coordination and mobilization of wildland
firefighting resources. |
