Burning Requirements

Burn Instructions

  1. Fill out Burn Permit if applicable. Refuse piles larger than 4’x5’ and 3’ in height need to be inspected by the Fire Chief or Fire Warden prior to burning.

  2. CheckAir Clearing Index Must be greater than 500’(Uintah County will be in Air Shed 9)

  3. Notify Public Service Dispatch(435)789-4222

  4. Refuse should be away from buildings and structures that may catch fire
  5. Refuse should be out in the open and not under trees that may catch fire
  6. Burn away from power lines and other utility service lines
  7. Refuse should not be in a dry grass or vegetation that can catch and spread fire
  8. Have a water supply or means of extinguishment on hand at ALL times during the burn
  9. Maintain and attend the burn at ALL times. Do not leave for any reason. If you must leave, extinguish the burn until you can return and complete the job
  10. Burn only during light or no wind conditions

You are responsible for any costs incurred if a response team has to come to your property to put out a fire that has not been reported or has gotten out of control, so please follow all previous instructions and have a safe burn.

Burn piles away from structures and power lines, have a water supply available, tend the fire at all times, have it out by dark, and no burning in windy conditions or red flag day.
