The intent of the Great Basin Priority Trainee Program is to facilitate the mobilization of Great Basin trainees for quality assignments to support position task book completion. The desired end result will be to continue to support the nation with high quality, professional Incident Management Teams into the future. Since the program was piloted in 2013, hundreds of Great Basin priority trainees have been mobilized to incidents within and outside of the geographic area resulting in the certification of hundreds of position task books.

How to Submit a Nomination:
-Inform your supervisor and or training officer of your desire to submit a nomination.
-Ensure you are informed of home unit expectations regarding program involvement.
-Receive support from supervisor and or training officer to submit a nomination.
-Complete the Priority Trainee Program Informational Module in the Wildland Fire Learning Portal.

The initial nomination submission period is open from February 12 to April 01. Nominations are then prioritized by the Great Basin Training Committee and the Prioritized Trainee List is generated and is posted on the Great Basin Coordination Center website in early May.

Nominations can still be submitted after April 01, and the ability to submit a nomination remains available throughout the summer. However, nominations received after April 01, are not prioritized in the same manner and trainees automatically go to the bottom of the list for the respective position the nomination was submitted for, and are prioritized based on the date the nomination was submitted.

The positions included in the Great Basin Priority Trainee Program are:

-Incident Commander Type 1-3
-All Command Staff positions including Information Officer, Safety Officer, Liaison Officer, and Human Resource Specialist
-All Logistics Section positions
-All Finance Section positions including Incident Business Advisors and Buying Team Leaders & Members
-All Planning Section positions
-Operations Section positions from Task Force Leader and above
-Air Operations positions from Helibase Manager Type 2 and SEAT Manager and above
