Colorado State & Counties - Fire Restrictions

Colorado Emergency Management provides an interactive fire ban map where you can click to view county-specific fire restriction information. The map tracks current fire restrictions throughout Colorado, with blue indicating active county fire restrictions. Please note that the county map shows restrictions for Colorado county jurisdictions only and does not provide information on federal restrictions within lands managed by the USFS, BLM, or NPS.

San Juan National Forest – Fire Alerts & Restrictions

The San Juan National Forest provides comprehensive fire information including current fire restrictions, fire danger status for both upper and lower elevation zones, and a wildfire information hotline at (970) 403-5212. The page also offers links to fire restriction information for surrounding jurisdictions like counties and national parks, as well as resources for wildfire smoke information, emergency planning, and safety. San Juan National Forest – General Alerts & Closures

This San Juan National Forest alerts page provides visitors with critical safety information, current forest conditions, and active alerts. Alerts are categorized by severity levels including Critical, Fire Restrictions, Caution, and Information. The page displays details on road and trail closures, flooding damage, reservoir restrictions, camping restrictions, and other potential hazards to help visitors plan safe and informed trips to the forest.

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde National Park provides fire management information including current fire restrictions and the superintendent's orders. The park uses prescribed fire programs, hazardous fuel reduction, and fire suppression strategies to protect infrastructure, cultural resources, natural resources, and human safety. Due to decades of fire suppression, higher fuel loads, and recent drought conditions, the park has experienced increased wildfire risks and implements proactive fire management approaches.

Tres Rios Bureau of Land Management

The Tres Rios BLM field office manages over 600,000 acres of public land in southwestern Colorado, including the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. The office provides fire restriction updates for the Southwest District, fire prevention orders for the Durango Special Recreation Management Area, and information about prescribed burns to reduce wildfire risk. Southern Ute Agency

The Southern Ute Indian Reservation implements fire restrictions on trust lands throughout the reservation, managed by the BIA Southern Ute Agency Fire Management. Stage I and Stage II fire restrictions may be in effect due to drought and dry fuel conditions, prohibiting activities such as trash burning, debris burning, campfires outside designated sites, and other fire-related activities. Commercial and industrial restrictions can be obtained from the BIA Fire Office at (970) 563-4571. Montezuma County & Ute Mountain Reservation

Montezuma County provides dedicated fire restriction information including Stage 1 and Stage 2 fire restrictions for unincorporated areas of the county. The county website offers current fire ban resolutions, restrictions for different municipalities (Town of Dolores, Town of Mancos, City of Cortez), Ute Mountain Ute Tribe restrictions, and links to San Juan National Forest restrictions. Fire bans and restrictions are governed by county ordinances and can change rapidly based on conditions. Contact your local County Sheriff or Fire Department for the most current information.
