Payette Dispatch is responsible for dispatching of resources on the Payette National Forest Protection Area and the Southern Idaho Timber Protection Association Protection Area.
The Payette National Forest contains approximately 2.3 million acres, including an estimated 777,000 acres in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and 24,000 acres in the Hells Canyon Wilderness.
A Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement (Commonly referred to as “Idaho Offset Agreement”) exists between the State of Idaho and federal agencies with jurisdictional lands in Idaho. Because of this agreement, the Payette dispatches for an additional 560,000 acres of non-Forest Service lands. Large portions of these lands border the Weiser Ranger District. The New Meadows Ranger District responds to lands near the Little Salmon River and the Council Ranger District responds to incidents in the Council Valley.
Southern Idaho Timber Protection Association (SITPA) Protection Area
SITPA Protection Area contains approximately 405,000 acres including 120,000 acres D.F. Development land, 108,000 acres State of Idaho land, 89,000 acres Forest Service land, 3,000 acres BLM land, 82,000 acres Private land, 1,400 acres Idaho Park and Recreation land, and 669 acres Fish and Game land.
