National Weather Service - Eureka has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity in effect from September 30, 1800 to October 2, 2300. 09/28/2017 1830 CA-SRF Orleans Complex, 27,276 acres timber and brush, 99% contained. There has been no fire growth for multiple days with minimal interior fire activity. This will be the final report unless significant changes occur.
09/28/2017 1830 CA-SHF Helena fire, 21,449 acres grass, brush, and timber 85% contained. Command has transferred to a Type 3 IC. Fire behavior remained minimal as interior fuels continue to burn. Caltrans will open Hwy 299 1.4 miles east of Helena intermittently at 0900, 1200 and 1500 daily until 9/30.

09/27/2017 1830 CA-KNF Salmon August Complex, 65,875 acres timber, 83% contained. There has been no growth on the incident since last report. There are no threats on the incident as suppression repair continues.
09/27/2017 1830 CA-SRF Young Fire: 21,377 acres, 11% contained. The percent to be contained on the Young fire is 11%, the rest of the fire will remain in a monitor status. There has been no fire growth in the last several days with only minimal interior fire behavior. The fire is located in a remote location in the Siskiyou Wilderness and poses no threats. This will be the final report on this incident.

The Young Fire is being managed with a 100% confine strategy. Fire behavior remains minimal as the fire is burning in a remote location with no threats.
09/24/2017 1850 CA-KNF-006098 Complex, 78,698 acres timber, 51% contained. The large decrease in acres is because the Young Fire has been removed from the complex and is now under the command of the Six Rivers National Forest with a type 3 IC. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect.

Crews continue to improve dozer line on Yellow Jacket Ridge. Much of the fire has suppression repair ongoing. Threats include private timber and grazing land and endangered species habitat.

Threats to Weaverville and Junction City have been mitigated. The threat to the Historic town of Helena remains. Highway 299 remains opened 24 hours with controlled traffic.

The Wallow Fire is 65,232 and 50% contained. The Deep Fire is 210 acres and 50% contained. Crews are working on suppression repair and fire line improvement where needed.

Slop overs continue to challenge containment lines caused from burning falling snags. Threats include, private timber, telecommunications and power infrastructure for the community of Happy Camp and Seiad Valley, cultural resources of the Karuk Tribe and Goshawk and Salmon habitat. Multiple forest road and trail closures including 15 trails within the Red Buttes Wilderness.

No evacuations at this time.

Hwy 299 will be intermittently opened throughout the day with traffic control. Fork fire is 1/2 mile from merging with the Helena fire and is being managed under Helena IMT and is at 3,479 acres.

Moderate fire behavior, uphill runs, flanking and creeping. Threat to the communities of Fork of Salmon, Little North Fork and Sawyers Bar along the North Fork of the Salmon River. Threat to numerous endangered species habitats, power transmission and communication lines, private timber lands, ancestral lands for the Shasta and Karuk tribes and the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation. Forest road, trail and area closures remain in effect.

Evacuations for Junction City have been lifted. Evacuations for Canyon Creek remain in place. PG&E has re-energized powerlines that run along Hwy 299 at the Southern portion of the fire. Trinity Power and Utility District is mostly complete with the exception of Canyon Creek Road. Structures threatened in the communities of Canyon Creek and Weaverville. Hwy 299 will be intermittently opened throughout the day with traffic control. Fork fire is 1/2 mile from merging with the Helena fire and is being managed under Helena IMT and is at 3,447 acres.

Threat to Ukonom lookout, communication infrastructure, significant cultural sites for the Karuk Tribe, Klamath River water shed, spotted owl, bald eagle, and salmon habitat, and the historic Fowlers cabin. The Ukonom Fire 4,195 acres and 52% contained with a confine strategy. The Haypress fire is 8,520 acres and 0% contained, the Burney Fire is at 1,395 acres and the Forks fire is 243 acres, all at 0% contained and a confine strategy. All other fires in the complex are under 30 acres. Locations in the fire area are experiencing unhealthy air quality due to smoke.

Controlled traffic continues on Hwy 96 due to the Oak fire. Multiple forest roads and trails including 15 trails in the Red Buttes wilderness have been closed. The Oak fire is currently 64,750 acres, 20% contained. Cedar fire is 8,450 acres, 10% contained; Young fire is 2,900 acres and 0% contained. These fires are being managed with a confine strategy. Threat remains to 65 residences along the Hwy 96 corridor, private land, power and communications infrastructure, and natural and cultural resources of the Karuk Tribe.

The fire is impacting the city of Etna's water shed. Threats to numerous endangered species habitats, private timbers lands and ancestral land for the Shastean and Karuk people.
