Northern Rockies Coordination Center assists the National Park Service Intermountain Regional Office with coordination of the NPS Intermountain Region Wildland Fire Modules. The mission of a Wildland Fire Module is to provide an innovative, safe, highly mobile, logistically independent, and versatile fire module with a primary commitment to maintain fire's role as a natural ecological process for wildland fire management and incident operations.

Wildland Fire Modules are highly skilled and versatile fire crews, which provide technical and ecological based expertise in the areas of long term planning, ignitions, holding, and suppression, prescribed fire preparation and implementation support, hazard fuels reduction, and fire effects monitoring; resulting in fire fulfilling its natural or historic role to meet resource and management objectives.
