Dispatch

South Central Idaho Interagency Dispatch Center (SCIIDC) is located in Shoshone, ID.  SCIIDC provides dispatch support for fire resources in the south-central part of Idaho, NE portion of Nevada and the NW corner of Utah.

The Center provides support to a totaemployee showing map at dispatch centerl of 13 cooperators from the Department of Interior, Department of Agriculture, Department of Defense, and the State of Idaho.  Approximately 11,500,000 acres are under the protection of SCIIDC, with the topography ranging from the flat and rolling Snake River Plain, to the hills and mountains of the Sawtooth Mountain Range.


The Center employs a combination of 10-12 temporary and permanent Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Forest Service (FS) personnel.  Our wildland fire dispatchers work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with long hours where duties vary on a day-to-day basis. They dispatch aircraft, equipment and fire personnel to wildland fires with the use of radios, telephones and numerous computer programs all in an effort to help suppress fires. They are also responsible for processing infosouth central interagency dispatch cubiclesrmation on fire weather conditions, forecasts and fire suppression activities and then relaying that information to fire personnel and managers.
