SUPPRESSION

The Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit (UCR) undertakes fire suppression actions on wildfires occurring on Fderal land and works with the Colorado State Forest Service, as well as local fire departments and communities, to support fire suppression actions occurring on adjacent private land.

The UCR fields a mix of resources that respond to over 200 fires per year including light and heavy engines, squads of firefighters, and an interagency helitack crew.

Other aviation resources, such as airtankers and smokejumpers, are based at the Grand Junction Interagency Air Center and may be available to assist firefighters in the local area, as well as adjacent areas including eastern Utah.
