Dozer Subcommittee
of the
Mobile Fire Equipment Committee
CHARTER

Mission

Analyze and gather information and recommendations from subcommittee, operators, advisors, industry members, and other resources.  Make subsequent recommendations to the Regional Mobile Fire Equipment Committee.

Objectives

The committee is structured to obtain participation in the development, improvement and modification of Dozer related equipment, materials, and operations.

  1. Review and research recommendations and suggestions for workability and need.
  2. Provide information to the Mobile Fire Equipment Committee as needed or requested.
  3. Disseminate and gather information to and from field units.

Group Composition

The Dozer subcommittee will consist of one of each of the following members:

  1. Chair
  2. Vice Chair
  3. Secretary
  4. Regional Fleet
  5. Mechanic Representative
  6. Dispatch Representative
  7. North Zone Chief Officer
  8. South Zone Chief Officer
  9. Fuels Representative
  10. North Zone Operators Representative (LTBMU, ENF, MNF, PNF, TNF)
  11. North Zone Operators Representative (KNF, LNF, MDF, SHF, SRF)
  12. South Zone Operators Representative (INF, SNF, SQF, STF)
  13. South Zone Operators Representative (ANF, BDF, CNF, LPF, DOG)
  14. California Department of Forestry
  15. Bureau of Land Management
  16. San Dimas Technology and Development Center

Tenure for the Subcommittee members shall be for five years. With the exception of the Chair and Vice Chair, the Subcommittee shall elect the members. The Chair and Vice Chair shall be elected by the Subcommittee and approved by the Mobile Fire Equipment Committee.

Replacement of Members

Replacement members for vacated positions will be solicited from Forest Supervisors and unit heads. Committee member's recommended tenure will be 5 years.

Selection of Chairperson

The Chairperson (Vice Chairperson at selection time) will be selected by the Director of FAM, R-5, subject to approval by the Regional Forester. The tenure for the chairperson is recommended to be 3 years with a maximum of 5 years. Vice Chairperson will shadow for 1 year. The Chair and Vice Chairperson will be an Forest Fire Management Officer (FFMO), Deputy FFMO or Assistant FFMO.

Meeting Frequency

The Sub-Committee will meet at least twice annually.
