LARGE INCIDENT INFORMATION (Incidents Reported via the NIMS ICS-209 Program)
The following Large Fires are listed according to priority. Large incidents are defined as fires which are 100+ acres in timber or 300+ acres in grass/brush, or incidents with a Type 1 or 2 IMT assigned. New Large Incidents

Little Joe, Lolo NF. Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 5 miles S of St. Regis, MT. Active fire behavior with group torching, short-range spotting and backing. Town of St. Regis is threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Boulder, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Point Zone Protection and full suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located Crooked Fork drainage, W of Granite Pass. Timber (litter, understory), brush. Moderate fire behavior with single tree torching, creeping and spotting. Numerous structures threatened. Area closures in effect. 

Avery Complex, Idaho Panhandle NF. Full suppression management strategy. Lightning caused. Timber, medium logging slash.  Complex includes:  Pretty 185ac (0%),  Marble Creek 2,033ac (10%), Crater 600ac (0%), and Breezy 757ac (0%).  Active fire behavior with group torching and short-range spotting. Residences and structures threatened.  Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Red River Complex, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Monitor and Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located S of Red River Ranger District. Timber, grass and brush. Complex includes:  Slaughter 100ac, Lone Park 10,000ac, Crown 1ac, Rattlesnake 1,350ac, Noble 1,000ac and Little Green 1,500ac.  Active fire behavior with short crown runs, running and long-range spotting. Numerous residences and structures threatened. Evacuations are in progress. Anticipated containment 10/9.

Upper Priest, Idaho Panhandle NF. Monitor management strategy. Lightning caused, located Upper Priest River, 2.5 miles from the Canadian Border. Timber. Minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering. Road and trail closures in effect.  This will be the last report unless significant activity occurs. 

Pretty, Idaho Panhandle NF. Monitor management strategy. Lightning caused, located 16 milesSW of St. Regis, ID. Timber. Moderate fire behavior with creeping and single tree torching reported. This incident is incorporated into Avery Complex.

Crater, Idaho Panhandle NF. Monitor and Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 60 miles SE of Couer d'Alene, ID. Timber. Minimal fire behavior reported. This incident is incorporated into Avery Complex.

Area Command Team (VanBruggen) is assigned to the Grangeville, ID area to manage Clearwater Complex, Motorway Complex, Municipal Complex, Wash, Slide, Jay Pt and Red River Complex.

Motorway Complex, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Full Suppression, Point Zone Protection, and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, numerous fires located 10 miles E to 40 miles NE of Kooskia, ID. Type 1 Incident Management Team (Poncin, IC). Timber, grass and brush. Complex includes: Woodrat 4,860ac (2%), Fourbit Creek 1,204ac (0%), Slide 9,953ac (0%), and 18 additional fires for 1,954ac. Timber. Active fire behavior with creeping, torching, and backing. Communities of Syringa, Lowell and multiple rural residences and commercial properties are threatened. Evacuations are in progress for Syringa.  Road, trail and area closures in effect.

Jay Pt, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 1 miles S of Powell, ID. Type 1 Incident Managment Team (Poncin, IC). Timber and logging slash. Moderate fire behavior with flanking, uphill runs and creeping. The Powell Ranger Station, Lochsa Lodge, IDFG Warden Residence, IDFG Satelitte Fish Hatchery, Idaho Transportation Department at Powell and FS campgrounds are threatened. Campgrounds, roads and area closures in effect.

Clark Fork Complex, Idaho Panhandle and Kootenai NFs. Full Suppression, Point Zone Protection, and Monitor management strategy. Lightning caused, located 6 miles NE and 9 miles S of Clark Fork, Idaho. Wildland Fire Management Team (Hutton, IC).  Timber. IPF fires includes: Whitetail 1,733ac (20%), Scotchmans Peak 2,057ac (75%), and Marten Creek 5ac (100%). KNF fires include: Napoleon 1 8,498ac (50%), Sawtooth 2,158ac (10%), and Government 389ac (15%). Moderate fire behavior with torching, short-range spotting and flanking. Numerous structures threatened. Communication towers and power transmission lines also threatened. Evacuations in effect. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Thompson Divide Complex, Glacier NP. Full Suppression, Point Zone Protection, and Confine management strategy. Cause unknown, located 3 miles SW of Essex, MT. Type 2 Incident Managment Team (Leach, IC). Complex includes: Thompson 17,857ac (20%), Sheep 1,595ac (0%), Granite 701ac (0%), Spruce 3ac (100%). Timber. Active fire behavior with group torching. The town of Essex, including the historic Izaak Walton Inn, the Walton District Office of Glacier National Park, public utilities and commercial businesses are threatened.  Evacuations are in progress.  Area and trail closures in effect. Anticipated containment 10/15.

West Fork Fish Creek, Lolo NF. Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 17 miles SW of Alberton, MT. Type 2 Incident Management Team (Thompson, IC). Timber (litter and understory). Extreme fire behavior with crowning and spotting reported. Numerous structures threatened. Area, road and trail closures in effect. Anticipated containment 11/30.

Benchmark, Lewis & Clark NF. Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 24 miles W of Augusta, MT. Type 2 Incident Management Team (Bales, IC) . Timber (litter and understory). Moderate fire behavior with torching, creeping and smoldering. Multiple residences threatened. Evacuations in progress. Road and trail closures in effect.

Northeast Kootenai Complex, Kootenai NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 4 miles NW of Trego, MT. Type 2 Incident Management Team (Pearson, IC). Timber. Complex includes: Marston 5,500ac (10%), Burnaby 50ac (0%), Sunday Creek 60ac (100%), and Weigel 100ac (100%). Extreem fire behavior with group torching, long-range spotting and backing. Numerous structures and wooden bridges are threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Goat Rock Complex, Kootenai NF. Monitor, Confined and Point Zone Protection management strategy.  Lightning caused, located 8 miles SW of Libby, MT.  Timber (litter, understory). Type 2 Incident Management Team (Russell, IC). Complex includes: Berray Mountain 1,705ac (0%), Chippewa 231ac (0%), Vimy 3ac (0%), Poplar Point 530ac (0%), Klatawa 1,932ac (0%), Dad 44ac (0%), Pine Ridge 47ac (0%). Extreme fire behavior with crowning and long-range spotting. Numerous structures threatened. Road, trail and area closures in effect.

Morrell Complex, Lolo NF. Full Suppression, Point Zone Protection and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 7 miles N of Seeley Lake, MT.  Type 2 Incident Management Team (Grant, IC). Complex includes:  Richmond Ridge 2 5ac (50%), North Richmond 240ac (50%) and Richmond Ridge 550ac (50%)Timber and closed timber litter. Active fire behavior with group torching, spotting and backing. Morrell Falls Trailhead, Pyramid Pass Trailhead, Richards Repeater and USGS Seismograph are threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Selway Complex, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 41 miles W of Darby, MT. Type 1 Incident Management Team (Dueitt, IC). Complex includes: Wash 31,608ac (0%), Sand Creek 99ac (0%), Wart 8.5ac (80%), Gedney 50ac (0%), Fog Saddle 50ac (0%), Ditch 2 40ac (0%), Ditch 100ac (0%). Timber, litter and understory. Extreme fire behavior with wind driven runs, flanking and spotting. Numerous residences and structures threatened. Evacuations, road, area and trail closures in effect.

Elk City Complex, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Full suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 14 miles WNW of Elk CIty, ID. Type 1 Incident Management Team (Dueitt, IC). Complex includes: Dedwood Mountain 120ac (100%), and Baldy 2,220ac (9%).  Timber, brush, short grass. Active fire behavior with wind driven runs and flanking.  The community of Newsome, ID is threatened. Road, trail and area closures are in effect. 

Grizzly Complex, Idaho Panhandle NF. Monitor and Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 14 miles N of Kellogg, Idaho. Type 2 Management Team (Fry, IC).  Timber. IPF fires includes: Lower Flat 5,992ac (0%), Downey 18ac (0%), North Grizzly 3,140ac (0%), Pond Peak 1ac (100%), Murray Peak 5ac (100%), Taylor Saddle 1ac (100%), Bennett Peak 3ac (100%), South Bobtail 5,240ac (10%), White Rock Creek 461ac (0%), Jack Waite 1ac (0%), Grassy Mtn 705ac (0%).  Active fire behavior with uphill runs, torching and spotting reported.

Bear Creek, Flathead NF. Confine management strategy. Cause unknown, located 57 miles from Hungry Horse, MT. Extreme fire behavior with running, uphill runs, and torching. Spotted Bear Ranger District Complex, three guest ranches, trailhead developments and infrastructure are threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Trail Creek, Flathead NF. Point Zone Protection and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 2 miles E of Spotted Bear Ranger Station. Extreme fire behavior with running, uphill runs and torching.  Spotted Bear Ranger Station and commerical lodges are threatened.  Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Last Inch, Cataldo Area Office, ID-IDL. Point Zone Protection and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 10 miles SE of Clarkia, ID. Type 2 Incident Management Team (Schenk, IC). Timber. Moderate fire behavior with group torching, single tree torching, and creeping reported. 

Tepee Mountain, Kootenai NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 13 miles N of Troy, MT. Timber (litter and understory). Moderate fire behavior with isolated torching reported.

Bear Lake, Beaverhead Deerlodge NF. Full Suppression and Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, 12 miles SE of Wisdom, MT. Type 2 Incident Management Team (Bentley, IC). Closed Timber Litter. Active fire behavior with short crown runs group torching and long-range spotting.  Structures threatened.  Area, road and trail closures in effect. Anticipated containment 9/30.

Parker Ridge, Idaho Panhandle NF. Confine, Point Zone Protection and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 7 miles SW of Porthill, ID. Timber. Moderate fire behavior with flanking and backing. Structures threatened. Trail and area closures in effect. 

Sucker Creek, Helena NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 6 miles NE of Lincoln, MT. Timber and brush. Minimal fire behavior with creeping and isolated torching. Road closures are in effect.

Clearwater/Municipal Complex, Nez Perce Clearwater NF and Clearwater Potlach Protection, IDL. The previously reported Municipal Complex is now being reported in concert with the Clearwater Complex. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused complex,located 1 mile NW of Kamiah, ID and 1 miles E of Orofino, ID. Type 1 Incident Managment Team (Wilkins, IC). Timber, hardwood slash and dormant brush. Complex includes: Lawyer 2 41,195ac (60%), Municipal 1,770ac (90%), Fisher 18,889ac (90%), Green 1,028ac (0%), Lolo #2 6,200ac (60%), Pete Forks 5,300ac (0%), Musselshell Creek 788ac (0%), Lost Hat 65ac (0%), Footrot 108ac (0%), Yoosa 313ac (0%), Snowy Summit 5,134ac (0%),  and 535 182ac (40%).  Active fire behavior with torching, flanking, and uphill runs. Numerous structures threatened. Area restrictions, road, trail and area closures in effect.

Melton 1, Flathead Agency, BIA. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 8 miles N of Dixon, MT.  Timber. Minimal fire behavior reported.

Scotchmans Gulch, Beaverhead-Deerlodge NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 15 miles NW of Philipsburg, MT. Timber. Minimal fire behavior with creeping.  Trail closures in effect.  Anticipated containment 8/30.

Squeezer, Northwestern Land Office, MT DNRC. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 13 miles SSE of Swan Lake, MT. Heavy logging slash and timber (litter and understory). Active fire behavior with wind driven runs, isolated torching and short-range spotting. Anticipated containment 10/1.

Monument, Idaho Panhandle NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 15 miles N of Rose Lake, ID. Timber. Moderate fire behavior reported. Monument Repeater site threatened. Road, area and trail closures in effect.

Mt. Silcox, Lolo NF. Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located Mt. Silcox NE of Thompson Falls, MT. Timber. Active fire behavior with short uphill runs, single and group torching, and short-range spotting reported.   

Marble Creek, Idaho Panhandle NF.  Full Suppression management strategy. Lightning caused, located 7 miles SE of Avery, ID. Type 2 Incident Management Team has been ordered. Timber. Active fire behavior with group torching and short-range spotting. Numerous residents and structures threatened.  Road, trail and area closures in effect. This incident has been incorporated into Avery Complex.

Baldy, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Full Suppression and Point Zone Protection management strategy. Lightning caused, located 14 miles WNW of Elk City, ID. Type 1 Incident Management Team (Dueitt, IC). Timber and grass. This incident has been incorporated into Elk City Complex. 

Wash, Nez Perce Clearwater NF. Point Zone Protection and Confine management strategy. Lightning caused, located 7 miles NE of Elk CIty, ID. Type 1 Incident Management Team (Dueitt, IC). Timber, closed timber and brush. Incident has been incorporated into the Selway Complex.
