| There are eleven Geographic Areas
across the United States and Alaska. Each Area is overseen by
a Geographic Area Coordinating Group. Each Area has a Geographic
Area Coordination Center (GACC) which acts as a focal point
for internal and external requests for resources not filled
at the local level. The GACCs are located in the following areas: |

| NATIONAL INTERAGENCY FIRE CENTER |
| The National
Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho is the nation's
support center for wildland firefighting. Eight Federal and
State agencies call NIFC home and work together to coordinate
and support wildland fire and disaster operations. These agencies
include the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management,
USDA Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National
Park Service, National Association of State Foresters, National
Weather Service, Office of Aircraft Services, and United States
Fire Administration. Also located at NIFC, the National
Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) works with GACCs,
as well as other countries, to coordinate land management agency
response for wildland fire at the national level. |
