Elk Crossing
The 0.1 acre fire was discovered on Sunday, August 23, though smoke reports from rafters and scouting had been ongoing in prior days. The fire is located on the west shore of the Snake River, one mile west of Snake River Overlook. The fire burned in duff within a grove of spruce, and evidence of a campfire led to determination of human-caused ignition.
A Type 5 incident commander, plus a trainee and two firefighters, are suppressing the fire. The fire has low spread potential and does not present any suppression challenges.
