The Porcupine Fire, on the Greys River Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, was reported June 26, 2025 at 2:49 p.m. The fire is approximately 4-acres in size, located near Smoot, Wyo., off Cottonwood Creek Road, approximately ¾ mile into Porcupine Creek. Cause of the fire is unknown.
Fire crews have built fire line around the perimeter of the fire, put hose lay and pumps in place, and are continuing mop up activities—gridding for hot spots.
A type 3 helicopter, fire engine, and around 25 local firefighters are currently on scene actively working to suppress the fire. Resources are also being shared from the Horse Fire. Public and firefighter safety are the top priorities during suppression efforts.
